I am moving to my basement, and how can I make it so it doesn't feel like a basement, and more like a bedroom?

Well, I am, obviously, moving to my basement, and I am wanting to know how can I create the feel of a upstairs bedroom in a basement? I have 2 windows, and a door that leads to outside. I would like to spruce it up. I am already painting and installing new carpet (eventually) and that should help! I am NOT a girly girl, so no frilly stuff please!
