Was mexico given stolen land back then (Southwest)?

Spain supposedly owned those parts before mexico; since spain is not native to the continent did they take it from other native americans like the comanche and apache? I'm not trying to start anything because i've heard many people say different things. Plus some of my family member are mexican.
